Birdathon! Results 2006 Preliminary Results By Julie Davis This year's birdathon donations are still coming in, but here is the good news so far. As of May 31, we have almost $9000. Since that does not include pledges still being collected, I feel sure we will raise close to $10,000. This year 75 percent of the donations will go to Audubon Ohio to support the Whittier project and 25 percent to Columbus Audubon for education projects. The May 26 BIT celebration was lots of fun for all those attending. A bird hike, games and dessert treats were enjoyed by everyone. At the end of the evening, the two grand prizes were awarded. The one night's stay donated by the Sandy Cove Cottage on Kelley's Island was won by Gerry Brevoort of the Backyard Chicks. The Denali 60 mm spotting scope generously donated by Eagle Optics was won by Lori Patterson of the Slate Run Colored Juncos. As usual, two teams battled it out for most birds seen. Quick Three Beards topped the list with 171 birds, followed closely by Wild Birds Unlimited with 166. In third place was the Westerville Waxwings team, seeing 134 birds. Please look in the September newsletter for a full account of each team's success and our final donation going to the Whittier prlject. Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's BAT. All of your hard work made it a success! Birdathon! is a registered trademark of National Audubon. Page updated 07/04/06 © Columbus Audubon 2006 |
