Act Now Volunteers needed for 'Light's Out' monitoring program
Hello, my name is Tyler Coburn and I am a Life Scout of Troop 428 out of Delaware Ohio. Last spring I collected dead birds that had flown into high-rise buildings while migrating through downtown Columbus. I was collecting these birds for the Audubon society to see if there was enough bird loss from building lights to persuade the building owners to turn off their lights during migration season.
Four volunteers were gracious enough to help me last spring, but only nine birds were found so I fell short of the service hours needed for my project. For this reason I am again asking for volunteers for the fall migration season. If you would be interested in helping me collect these birds please contact me at: mcoburn@columbus.rr.com. It really won't take much of your time, even if you only check between your car and workplace that would be great! You could also ask your building maintenance workers to check on the roof, for many birds end up there. Hope to hear from you soon, Thanks again, Tyler Coburn. Page updated 9/16/06
