Congress Passes RESTORE Act

Restoring the GulfLast week, the U.S. House and Senate passed the RESTORE Act, dedicting 80 percent of Clean Water Act penalties from the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster to Gulf Coast restoration. President Obama is epxected to sign the legislation quickly.

The RESTORE Act is the single largest investment ever by the United States Congress in environmental restoration. Audubon played a key role in helping to move this bill forward. The act will provide as much as $20 billion in funds for Gulf restoration and recovery.
