If you plan to visit the Calamus Swamp, the Columbus Audubon preserve in Packaway County, please use caution.
Storm damage from June 29th at Calamus was minimal. Numerous trees came down but none damaged the boardwalk and debris has been cleared from the trails. (A big thank-you to Blaine Keckley for his hard work in removing branches and debris!)However, you should use caution, as there remain several good-sized branches suspended in the trees, and a few of these are in position to fall on an unwary person on the trails.
Columbus Audubon will continue the cleanup at Calamus. For now, though, keep an eye upward!
